Previous BBC Advisers Participate in MPs' Inquiry In the Wake of Claims of Partiality in Disclosed Document

Previous British Broadcasting Corporation specialists testifying before MPs

We begin with inquiries from Conservative MP the panel's head, that oversees the committee.

She opens by providing context to the unauthorized memorandum written by Michael Prescott and published in a daily publication.

"I do not desire the British Broadcasting Corporation leaning this way or that way, I simply desire it balanced, impartial and equitable," he says.

When asked whether he considers the BBC is institutionally biased, the adviser answers: "No, I do not. Let's be clear, a great deal the British Broadcasting Corporation does is world class - both documentary and non-factual shows."

But he adds: "There is significant effort that must be undertaken at the British Broadcasting Corporation."

A further ex-adviser British Broadcasting Corporation specialist interviewed by the committee, Caroline Daniel, says she regards the British Broadcasting Corporation extremely earnestly and that it has a "ongoing system and active debate" across evolving and intricate issues.

"Was the BBC prepared to engage in a thorough conversation and debate and act accordingly?" she questions. "As I see it, indeed, they were."
