Authorities stated that two minors were killed and two more were critically injured in a gunfire incident in the early hours of Saturday outside the Houston area of the city of Angleton.
Local law enforcement answered calls to alerts of the incident and discovered two young individuals, a 13-year-old and a four-year-old, who had been shot to death.
Two additional minors, an eight-year-old and a nine-year-old, were transported via helicopter to a medical facility and were listed as critical.
Everyone believed to be involved in the shooting have been taken into custody, officials stated.
“The community is safe to the community,” stated in an announcement.
Officials did not provide additional information about the scene of the event or the factors that preceded it.
“Although the investigation is ongoing, the tragic death of two children in such a way is a devastating loss,” officials wrote in a public message.
“Our condolences go out to the family and all those impacted as we gather more information about this heartbreaking situation.”
Angleton is a city of about 19,500 and is the administrative center of the county.
It is located about 72km outside Houston and is located in the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land region.
