Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for doubts to be raised about his future following a further convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve matches, marking the club's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from management,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory obviously but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal exchanges I feel the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Player Response

The manager lamented recurring weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase like this with performances so bad.”

He finished, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until it is removed, we will always battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to its rightful place, prove again the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
